Read Eugenie
Challenge
To promote her new novel, BABE IN TOYLAND, Eugénie Seifer Olson needed an author Web site that would reflect the style and genre of her work. While Eugenie wanted a fresh look for the site, her publisher, HarperCollins, required that the site design be in-sync with its traditional conventions for marketing “chick lit” -- books targeting a largely female audience.

Solution:
Vollusia’s creative team rose to the challenge and designed a site to fuse these two needs. The site’s look and feel included a bright palette of colors, custom typography, and a clean user interface to easily reach potential readers. This unique look was the perfect complement to the publisher’s other promotional pieces targeting the upscale female segment. The site’s content included a preview chapter from the book, information about Olson, short stories, and a contest. It also featured an events listing, allowing readers to see where Olson would be reading and signing books.
Results
Readeugenie.com was a critical piece in launching BABE IN TOYLAND, meeting the needs of both the author and her publisher. For Eugenie, the site succeeded as both a personal reflection of her style as an author and an important means to communicate with her readers. For HarperCollins, the site proved a cost-effective marketing tool, helping them to promote a new author within a limited marketing budget. The publisher leveraged the site by incorporating the url into all of their promotional materials. Going forward, Readeugenie.com will continually be updated and used to promote Eugenie’s upcoming novels.
